Labor Leaders, Conferences Informed about WTC Evidence
We at AE911Truth reach out as educators and concerned citizens with the physical, forensic evidence that conclusively proves the controlled demolition of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers 9/11. We want every citizen to know, but we especially want to inform people and organizations who have the position and ability to do something substantial to assist us in our quest for justice. Labor unions are such a group. Through much of US history, organized labor has been responsible for establishing a long list of many influential changes in our society, from ending child labor to establishing workplace safety regulations, weekends, eight-hour workdays and health care and pension benefits. Unions have been effective in transforming the conditions of the working class. We have had some very helpful break-throughs with 9/11 outreach to unions, most notably with Kevin Bracken, president of Australia’s Victoria Trades Hall Council and Secretary of the Maritime Union. Mr. Bracken was actually a 9/11 Truth advocate as early as 2006, distributing materials to union members and leadership, and succeeded in passing a resolution by the Victoria Trades Hall Council on March 28th, 2008: “This meeting of the VTHC Executive Council calls for a thorough, independent inquiry into the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11. The events of that day have been used to start pre-emptive wars ‘that will not end in our lifetime.’ They have been used to attack civil liberties and legal principles that have been the cornerstone of civilized communities. There is an urgent need to reassess the way we view the world after September 11 and we call for a proper investigation into the events of that day.” Bracken became aware of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth in 2009 during the Hard Evidence Down Under Tour by Richard Gage, AIA. He also gained a measure of world-wide notoriety when he called into an Australian talk show in support of 9/11 Truth.
Australia’s Herald Sun started an online poll asking readers if they thought Bracken’s comments were reasonable, and, despite Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s public retort that the comments were “stupid and wrong" (without addressing the overwhelming evidence that was provided), the poll showed 76% in favor of Bracken and 23% opposed. Bracken came to America a few months later and met with Gage at the Labor Tech, convention where he gave a moving, historic speech. Our outreach efforts to unions are ongoing. AE911Truth volunteers David Slesinger, Bernie Suarez, and Tim Michel passed out over 1000 flyers at last year’s national convention of the American Postal Workers Union in Los Angeles. The activists employed an effective strategy at the convention that should be shared. Try it at an event in your city where the participants arrive by bus. About 15 buses rolled up to the front of the convention center, one right after the other, and our volunteers just handed the materials to the participants as they stepped off the bus. People are likely to take whatever is handed to them in such a moment, and you can find lots of materials to use in our online store. Make sure to follow local laws in your area when handing out materials to the public. While labor unions are great candidate groups for outreach actions, some are going to be more open-minded than others. The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) certainly are quite relevant for an educational effort, especially as a follow-up to our police fax alert that was sent out to 12,000 police chiefs and sheriffs last month. At the turn of the 20th century, union activist Mary Harris, aka Mother Jones, the radical reformer who was dubbed "the most dangerous woman in America,” declared, “Pray for the dead – and fight like hell for the living.” With your support, more people will take those words to heart and reach out to unions with the vital WTC evidence from AE911Truth. Contact us if you are interested in helping with our efforts to inform unions this year in the run-up to the 12th anniversary of 9/11 and beyond!
